The Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar has just smashed the record at Silverstone, leaving the previous record holder in a cloud of dust

The Aston Martin Valkyrie has smashed the Silverstone lap record for a street-legal production car, lapping the F1 circuit in 1:56.42.

Three years after it built its first customer Valkyrie, Aston Martin has confirmed that production of the V-12 hypercar will soon reach an end. In a statement to Motor Authority, Aston Martin spokesperson Morgan Theys said the final Valkyrie will be built before the end of 2024.

O riginally codenamed Nebula (an acronym for Newey, Red Bull, and Aston Martin) and later internally dubbed AM-RB 001, Aston Martin announced the Valkyrie hypercar in March 2017.
