A popular Christmas market has returned this year with more local traders than ever taking part. The Bath Christmas Market runs until 15 December, with 230 traders taking part in the free event in the heart of the city.

Bath and North East Somerset residents are invited to an exclusive preview of the Bath Christmas Market where they can explore the market as the chalets open for the evening, accompanied by live entertainment and festive food and drink. This annual residents' preview evening is scheduled for Wednesday, November 27, from 5pm to 7pm.

Consumer magazine Which? recently released its pick of the top UK Christmas markets to visit this winter. And one of those named among the very best was Chester, especially for those seeking "a peaceful festive day out".

A council said it attempted to book another Christmas market for its £12m revamped square after the original operator was "unable to proceed". West Northamptonshire Council originally announced there would be no festive market because it would require "extensive planning".

Bath Christmas Market is officially open, with 229 traders lining the streets and selling their wares. Each has their own unique tale. Some came from hundreds of miles away, some are native Bathonians.
