Brentford have won their appeal against the red card shown to Christian Nørgaard after the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Everton.

Brentford captain Christian Norgaard has avoided a three-match ban as the Bees successfully appealed against his red card in a 0-0 draw with Everton on 23 November. The Denmark international was sent off in the 41st minute at Goodison Park following a challenge on Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford while attempting to score in the six-yard box.

Brentford's Christian Norgaard had his red card in a 0-0 draw with Everton overturned by England's Football Association on Wednesday, meaning the Danish midfielder will not serve a three-match ban. Brentford were reduced to 10 men in the first half when Norgaard lunged at Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and was shown a red card after a Video Assistant Referee review.

Norgaard was sent off after VAR sent referee Chris Kavanagh to the pitchside monitor to review a knee-high contact made on Jordan Pickford while challenging for a loose ball.

Referee Chris Kavanagh gave no foul but the Video Assistant Referee, Matt Donohue, recommended a red card and Norgaard has given his marching orders. Bees manager Thomas Frank after the game - which ended as a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park - confirmed the club would appeal the decision.
