A former dancer for Shen Yun Performing Arts sued the nonprofit dance company on Monday, saying it has subjected some children who perform for it to harsh conditions, including long hours for little pay.

The former performer, who was recruited to join Shen Yun at age 13, said the prominent dance group coerced children into making money for it.

Shen Yun, a music and dance group affiliated with a spiritual movement, has faced legal troubles in recent weeks even as it continues its tour through the U.S.
