THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala continues to be under the threat of heavy rains due to the influence of Cyclone Fengal with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) sounding an orange alert for Kannur and Kozhikode on Tuesday.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in northern Kerala until Wednesday, with an orange alert issued for Kannur and Kasaragod. The Meteorological Department warns of possible disruptions due to severe weather conditions.

As heavy rain continues in many parts of Kerala, educational institutes were declared holiday in Kasaragod, Thrissur, Alappuzha, and Malappuram today, Tuesday

Kerala is bracing for widespread rainfall, with red alerts issued for Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, and Malappuram. The IMD predicts very heavy to extremely heavy rain across northern and central districts over the next five days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a warning of significant rainfall in Kerala due to cyclone Fengal, currently positioned as a strong low-pressure area over northern Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu and Kerala witnessed heavy flooding due to incessant rainfall caused by Fengal's landfall on Puducherry coasts. Schools and colleges are likely to remain shut tomorrow.

Kerala is expected to experience significant rainfall due to cyclone Fengal, with red alerts issued for five northern districts. The weather system, currently a strong low-pressure area, is likely to intensify.

In the wake of heavy rains, the Andhra government announced the school holiday in Chittoor and Annamayya districts.
