A man in Hillsborough County killed his five-year-old son and then himself, a tragedy discovered by the mother in their Lutz home, leaving the community in shock.

Sheriff’s officials said they were called just before 10 a.m. Friday to a report that two people were dead inside a home.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a devastating murder-suicide that occurred in Lutz on Friday, November 29th. Deputies responded to a home on the 17600 block of Cranbrook Drive after a mother discovered her 5-year-old son and his father deceased.

The mother called the sheriff's office saying she was trying to pick up her son from the father's house on Cranbrook Drive, but nobody was answering the door. At around 7:30 a.m., deputies went to the house and didn't see any suspicious activity or signs of foul play.
