The question of who the next Maharashtra Chief Minister will be has been on everybody's minds ever since the results for the Maharashtra Assembly elections were announced last Saturday on November 23.

On Wednesday, Eknath Shinde, who resigned as Chief Minister on Tuesday but remains the caretaker CM, stated that he left the decision to decide the next Maharashtra Chief Minister to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP leadership.

The suspense over who would get the top post in Maharashtra continues after the ruling Mahayuti coalition's spectacular success in the recently concluded Assembly elections.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve on Wednesday said that the BJP would independently decide on the chief minister of the state and would not consult Eknath Shinde, who is the caretaker chief minister.
