Sam Moore, who influenced musicians including Michael Jackson, Al Green and Bruce Springsteen, was inducted with Dave Prater into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.

Sam Moore, one-half of the Grammy-winning R&B duo Sam & Dave behind '60s hit “Soul Man,” died this morning in Coral Gables, Fla. at the age of 89.

Mr. Moore and Dave Prater stormed the R&B and pop charts with indelible hits like “Soul Man” and “Hold On, I’m Comin’.”
