A government official says Canada is already examining possible retaliatory tariffs on certain items from the United States should President-elect Donald Trump follow through on his threat to impose sweeping tariffs on Canadian products.

Trudeau is set to meet with the country’s premiers, after they asked for an urgent meeting on U.S.-Canada relations ahead of the incoming Trump administration.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Tuesday he had a “good call” with President-elect Trump following the incoming U.S. leader’s pronouncement that he would impose a 25 percent tariff on Canadian goods when he takes office.
