Pete Medhurst, who was the voice of Navy football for the past 12 years and Navy lacrosse for 24 years, died at age 55.

Longtime Navy athletics broadcaster Pete Medhurst has died. He was 55. Navy’s athletic department, which spoke with Medhurst’s family, announced his death on social media Tuesday.

The longtime radio voice lost his brief battle with cancer. He had broadcast 240 consecutive Midshipmen football games until November.

Pete Medhurst, longtime voice of the Navy Midshipmen on the Navy Radio Network and WBAL Radio and one of the best radio play-by-play announcers in all of sports, died Monday night after a brave and inspirational battle against brain cancer.
