Private prison company CoreCivic has announced it will contract with the State of Montana to transfer 240 inmates to the company's 2,672-bed Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility in Tutwiler, Mississippi in the first quarter of 2025.

Officials say transferring the prisoners is a necessary step to manage prison populations and make needed upgrades and additions to the Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge.
