Red Wings defenseman Jeff Petry has reportedly undergone surgery and will likely miss an extended amount of time.

The Detroit Red Wings will have to continue playing without the services of veteran defenseman Jeff Petry for the foreseeable future. On Sunday night, National Hockey League insider Frank Seravalli revealed that,

The Detroit Red Wings have already been without veteran defenseman Jeff Petry for a month, but he may continue to be out for a couple more months. According to Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli, Petry underwent a surgery and could be out of the Red Wings lineup for another six to eight weeks.

He has been out of the lineup since suffering an injury in the team’s Jan. 3 game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
