Russian leader Vladimir Putin is not preparing for negotiations but for the continuation of the war. In particular, Russia is increasing its army by more than 100,000 troops, stated President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his video address.

The topic being discussed now is the possibility of a meeting between [Russian dictator Vladimir] Putin and Zelenskyy, as this is being talked about in both Moscow and Kyiv. My take is that this idea is coming from Washington.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that Donald Trump has not yet presented an official plan to end the war with Russia. He also emphasised that he is ready to engage in talks with Putin if they would lead to an end to the war.

That will take some doing. Putin remains uninterested in peace talks as long as Russian troops continue to gain ground in Ukraine’s east, albeit at a slow pace, and while Ukrainian forces hold seized territory in the Kursk region inside Russia, according to John Herbst, a former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, and other former officials.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said he would probably meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy next week to discuss Ukraine's war to repel Russian invaders. Trump did not make clear whether it would be a face-to-face meeting or a video conference.
