TSA officers intercepted 130 guns at airport security checkpoints in the state in 2024 -- a 23% increase from 2023, when 106 were caught in 2023. Huntsville International Airport recorded the largest increase in Alabama. Officers found 33 firearms at security checkpoints compared to 20 interceptions in 2023.

After confiscating 42 guns last year, TSA agents intercepted two handguns on Tuesday morning at International Airport.

TSA agents stopped two guns from getting on planes at Pittsburgh International Airport on Tuesday. Officials say the agents intercepted a Pittsburgh man’s loaded .32 caliber handgun and a Baden man’s loaded .

The first two guns of 2025 were stopped at Pittsburgh International Airport on Tuesday in separate incidents. The Transportation Safety Administration says the guns were stopped at separate security checkpoints.
