Parts of central Illinois awoke to snow on Monday, December 2, as the National Weather Service (NWS) urged drivers to “take it easy” on the roads.Footage shows snow falling on the NWS’s regional office in Lincoln on Monday morning.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued winter storm warnings and advisories across seven states: Michigan, Indiana, Alaska, Tennessee, New York, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Blowing snowfall, hazardous travel conditions and reduced visibility are expected in many areas.

Lake-effect snow bands will shift southeast overnight and linger into Tuesday. Wyoming County, initially under a Lake Effect Snow Warning, has been downgraded to a Winter Weather Advisory. Accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are forecast there through 7 a.m. Monday.
