Prior to the recent flurries, the National Weather Service last recorded snowfall in Wilmington on Jan. 29, 2022 — reporting a total half inch, according to the Wilmington N.C. Snowfall Database. Also, on Jan. 10, a system brought sleet to the area before turning into rain.

As the Austin area prepares for winter precipitation, areas to the south and east could see bigger impacts. Milam, Bastrop and Fayette counties are expected to see some of the coldest temperatures in Central Texas along with the possibility of more than an inch of snow.
