Prince Harry will not travel to London for the first day of his trial against Rupert Murdoch’s tabloid The Sun, refuting claims that he was set to receive "limited police protection" during his stay.

The Duke of Sussex is due to give evidence at the High Court trial against News Group Newspapers, which is expected to last around seven weeks

It's believed he will testify in court in person in February. The trial is against News Group Newspapers (NGN), which Harry claims used unethical and illegal methods, to gather stories about him over the course of many years.

The Duke of Sussex is poised to accuse The Sun of destroying millions of emails as a landmark phone-hacking case was delayed twice on Tuesday. Prince Harry, 40, will claim the newspaper deliberately deleted over 30 million emails to cover up alleged phone tapping carried out on himself and other public figures between 1996 and 2011.

Prince Harry's barrister said there was potentially a "good prospect" of an agreement that would save the court time.

Prince Harry’s lawsuit against the publisher of The Sun took another twist Tuesday when the trial was delayed by last-minute settlement negotiations. It follows two decades of legal drama over the cutthroat practices of the British press in the days when newspapers sold millions of copies and shaped the popular conversation.
