President Vladimir Putin on Thursday threatened to strike "decision-making centres" in Kyiv with Russia's new hypersonic missile, hours after Moscow pummelled Ukraine's energy grid in an attack that left a million people without power.

The Russian leader claimed that the new "Oreshnik" hypersonic missile could target the capital if Ukraine continues using Western long-range weapons. Follow DW for more.

Russia launched a total of 347 missiles as well as over 2,500 Shahed-type attack drones at Ukraine in November, President Volodymyr Zelensky said at a news conference on Dec. 1.

The Ukrainian military said Russia launched a barrage of 110 drones overnight as one person was killed after a block of flats was hit in Ternopil.
