As the BJP contemplates its next chief minister for Maharashtra, the spotlight is on Devendra Fadnavis. Despite Eknath Shinde's recent tenure, the BJP's election success may tip the scales in favour of Fadnavis.

Amid suspense over who will become Maharashtra Chief Minister, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has not only pushed for Devendra Fadnavis to occupy the top office in the state while ruling out a Bihar-like model in Maharashtra as suggested by Shiv Sena leaders who have been pushing for Shinde's return.

However, despite being the largest party with 132 seats and making Devendra Fadnavis a CM candidate, there's no agreement among alliance partners. The BJP has ruled out replicating the Bihar model, where Nitish Kumar was made CM before elections.

Given the decisive results, with the BJP bagging an overwhelming 132 seats, followed by Shiv Sena (57) and NCP (41), it is learnt that the BJP leadership in Delhi is not happy with the “pressure tactics” adopted by Shinde supporters to make him Chief Minister again.
