National Player of the Year candidate Johni Broome and No. 3 Auburn captured the Maui Invitational championship with a 90-76 win over Memphis on Wednesday at Lahaina Civic Center. Broome and frontcourt running mate Dylan Cardwell dominated Penny Hardaway’s Tigers (6-1).

Johni Broome scored 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead No. 4 Auburn to the Maui Invitational championship with a 90-76 win over Memphis.

It also advanced Auburn to 7-0, already having three ranked wins on the young season and an opportunity for a fourth when it travels to play Duke next Wednesday. The Tigers now rank No. 1 in KenPom’s efficiency rankings, almost two points ahead of the next team.
