Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group is terminating or reassigning all local meteorologists at its nearly two dozen stations nationwide, replacing them with a feed broadcasted to individual stations from The Weather Channel,

Allen Media Group will lay off or reassign at least 50 workers across all of its local stations, according to a report.

Bringing live and local newscasts includes detailed reports from staff meteorologists — an increasingly important feature of stations in markets across the U.S. where weather threats may lead many to broadcast TV.
