The future of the Tampa Bay Rays is still in doubt after a letter from Rays President Matt Silverman to Pinellas County Commissioners.

The Tampa Bay Rays have declined the Pinellas County Commission’s request to clarify whether the team will follow through or back out of a deal to build a new $1.3 billion stadium in downtown St. Petersburg.

The Tampa Bay Rays and Pinellas County clash over a new stadium, with disputes about commitments and agreement interpretations ongoing.

In a sometimes scolding letter, Pinellas County Commission Chair Kathleen Peters flatly asks officials with the Tampa Bay Rays if they are in or out on a $1.3 billion stadium deal the team agreed to four months ago.

The President of the Tampa Bay Rays has sent a response letter to the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners following the letter to the baseball team last week.

Despite multiple statements publicly and in writing the new stadium deal is dead, the Rays admit that legally it survives.
