A 17-year-old male died over the weekend after a shooting at a local Wawa.

Police say it began as a verbal altercation involving multiple people inside the store which later turned physical.

A man was fatally shot Saturday at a Wawa in Stroudsburg, according to authorities. The Monroe County Coroner’s Office said in a news release that the man died from his injuries about 9 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono. An autopsy is scheduled for later in the week. The coroner’s office said the shooting was an isolated incident.

Shots were fired around 8:20 p.m. Saturday at the convenience store, 1015 W Main St., in Stroudsburg, authorities said.

They performed life-saving measures until EMS services arrived and took over care of the victim.
