Each likely as a God of War of their own. Kratos was Greece's God of War. Ty'r was the God of War in the Norselands. This makes me thing that either Ty'r or Kratos could have fulfilled this mission had they taken that role. The only reason Ty'r couldn't is he was imprisoned. This left Kratos to fill a void only a God of War could have filled.
